A Celebration

My brother Colin graduated from high school on Saturday! Everyone in my family knows he is beyond ready to head to the University of Arkansas in the fall.  Congratulations Colin!

Excuse the darkness, my mom is still figuring out her mother's day present.

It's Personal

For those who know me, should know that I don't want to be super personal on my blog so I'll spare the details on this post. But I just want to put it out there that I am in a long distance relationship. I don't think I've ever really said it out loud before, it just sounds to foreign to me. The truth of the matter is I am, my boyfriend MG lives in DC and I am at the University of Alabama finishing out the next year to year and a half.

I had a friend tell me it takes a lot of energy to miss someone and even more to make it work. I totally agree with this statement. To be honest missing someone is exhausting, but the thing is I wouldn't have it any other way.

I just wish everyone could find someone just as wonderful as MG because he is the best. He answers the phone when I call him at 2am, he listens to me complain that a friend didn't ask invite me to go to Gallettes, and he remembers how I once said how much I love pink peonies.

Long story short, long distance relationships are hard but are worth it.

Let. It. Out.

So the past week I have been doing major venting to anyone who would listen (thanks to all those that did listen). My poor boyfriend MG has gotten the worst of it and he doesn't need any extra stress in his life since he is starting a new job this week. It's awful because I hear myself pouring it out and can't stop myself. Now instead of unloading on others I'm trying to channel my emotions in other ways.

1. Work Outs.
Whether it's a hard core strength training or a 30 minute spin while I read, working out my frustrations is much more healthy for me.

2. Crafts
I made use of this outlet when I was alone this weekend and cranked out two adorable picture frames, one chevron and one ikat. (I posted pics if you follow me on instagram)

3. Productivity
I have a million things I want to do over the next couple of months and I really need to update my resumé. So I'm going to put more time into making list of things I want to do and start writing cover letters and hopefully make some great things happen for myself. (anyone have John Mayer's Where the Light is CD?, he talks about how in your twenties "I made it happen for myself" is a big phrase)

How do you deal with your issues?

ST & LT

I wanted to use today's post to wish my wonderful parents a happy 26 years of marriage. They are the best parents that anyone could ever have and would do anything and everything for my two brothers and I. I can't wait for finals to be over so I can sleep more time with them over the holidays.

While I was home I meant to scan a picture for this post but I never got a chance too. So instead I'm posting a picture of a picture from my room at home that I took on my phone sometime last year.. (which I'm kinda embarrassed about)
Back when LT got perms and ST still had a head full of hair.

Here are some fun facts about my parents:

-My mom's name is Laurie not Lori.

-My dad's name is William but he goes by his middle name Scott.

-They were neighbors growing up

-They didn't date until college, even though my mom went to the University of Texas and my dad Texas Tech.

-They were both 22 when they got married

P.S. Mom if your reading this keep your eye out in the mail!

Holidaze Kick off!

Thanksgiving marked the kickoff for the 2011 holiday season! I spend the majority of my break in the Texas Hill Country with my family.

It is our tradition to have Thanksgiving at our family farm outside of Austin with my mom's side, then on the following day a Thanksgiving meal with my dad's side at our lake house in Horse Shoe Bay on Lake LBJ.  I think I can go a whole year without looking at a turkey again.

I'm thankful to have such an amazing family to spend time with.  I can't wait to spend some much needed R&R at the Tinsley house over Christmas break!

Since Thanksgiving is officially over I was perfectly content with listening to Carole King's new Christmas CD.

P.S. Only 26 days until Christmas... and only 25 days until my 21st Birthday!

Grinchy?

Let me be the first person to tell you how much I love the Holiday season, but let me also be the first person to tell you I believe in taking one holiday on at a time.  Call me old fashion, but I like my Christmas in December not in November or heaven forbid in October. I'm still enjoying my remaining sparkle pumpkin (although me and my roommates had to smash one tonight that went bad).

Don't get me wrong I love Christmas, I love the whole month of December! My birthday is Christmas Eve! But I want to slow down and enjoy my fall.. or 75 degree weather we have here in Alabama. Winter will come when it's ready with all those fun things that come with it. Until then I want to enjoy my fall Christmas Music and decoration free.

After Thanksgiving though, I will be more than ready to spread the Christmas Cheer!

Watered Down

My lastest obsession is watercolor paintings. I seriously can't get enough of them! Over the holidaze I'm going to try and take up watercolor painting. I'm sure it won't be pretty at first (or ever) but trying never hurt anyone!

Don't you just love this one from Bendel's?

The third Saturday in October

This weekend was the clash of crimson and orange! Everywhere you looked there was a spot of Tennessee orange, luckily the crimson prevailed in this old time rivalry!
